Every year, McDuffie Regional Medical Center Foundation puts on a golf tournament to raise funds for needed medical equipment and education for the community. The tournament is geared around Thomson's very own NFL Legend, Ray Guy. Having played for the Oakland Raiders since 1973 to 1986, Ray has been listed as the greatest punter around.
