Greyhound Adoptions of Augusta and the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area)

Our Mission:

To rescue retired, racing greyhounds - and help any Greyhound in need;
Provide for their health, safety, security, and well-being;
Educate the public about the availability and desirability of greyhounds as pets;
And place them through adoption into loving homes.

This adoption group was founded by Jeanne McGee in August 2007, who volunteered extensively in the last many years with two other greyhound adoption groups in GA/SC. Jeanne has owned greyhounds since 1994 and currently Petee, Anicare, Patches, and Cane share their home with her. Jeanne adopted her first greyhound, Angel Tip, in the spring of 1994. A few months later, she wanted another to keep Angel company while she worked. She fostered Brittni and adopted her, thus making Brittni her first foster and her second greyhound. She has had considerable experience in all aspects of greyhound rescue and adoption, and sews/knits and does crafts in her spare time. Jeanne is a Medical Transcriptionist at East Central Regional Hospital Augusta (formerly known as Georgia Regional Hospital at Augusta) with 33 years of service with the State of Georgia.

Each greyhound is placed immediately into one of our foster homes in Augusta, or North Augusta or Aiken (SC). The greyhound makes the transition from a racing dog to a much-loved pet in its foster home. We were incorporated as a non-profit organization by the state of Georgia in the fall of 2007, and we are licensed as an animal shelter with the Georgia Department of Agriculture. In August 2008, we received notification from the IRS that we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, effective as of 9/13/07.
